Medicare Insurance Information
When you need to use their Medicare benefits, the following information will be useful.
Medicare is the nation's largest health insurance for people over 65, under 65 with a disability and all ages with end-stage disease impairment or permanent kidney failure requiring dialysis or a kidney transplant.
Eligibility for Medicare does not depend on their income. If you 65 years of age or older, you are entitled to coverage. Also not be a retiree to be eligible.
Drug Coverage
Medicare coverage is divided into four parts. The best thing is to get them to take full advantage of the benefits of Medicare.
Part A (Hospital Insurance). It covers the following:
- inpatient care in hospitals
- remains hospitalized in a skilled nursing facility
- Hospice care services
- home health care services
- inpatient care in a religious nonmedical health institution
Part B (medical insurance). Covers services medically necessary, such as medical services and outpatient care. Part B also helps cover some preventive services to help maintain their health and keep certain illnesses from getting worse.
Part C (Medicare Advantage Plans). This part combines Parts A and B and sometimes prescription drug coverage well, known as Part D.
Part D (Medicare coverage for prescription drugs). It covers prescription drugs that can help reduce prescription drug costs and help protect against higher costs in the future.
More than 43 million people benefit from Medicare, which covers items and services.
Defects Program
Claiming the program is becoming increasingly difficult. It has been reported that the hospital insurance program trust fund could run out of money by 2018. "The trustees have made projections in the past, but this was more gloomy forecasts reported in 2005."
The problem arises when the ratio of workers paying Medicare taxes to retirees drawing benefits is decreasing when health service price per person is increasing. At present there are 3.9 workers paying taxes into Medicare for every older American receiving services.
Critics said that "part of the cost of Medicare is fraud, which government auditors estimate costs Medicare billions of dollars a year." The Government Accountability Office listed Medicare as a government program of 'high risk', where reforms are necessary, "Partly because of their vulnerability to fraud and partly because of its long term financial problems. "
Polls show public opinion as serious drug problems. A Research Center found 62 percent of the population, said the financial problems facing Medicare should be a high priority for the government, but still put it behind other priorities.
Surveys also suggest that there is no public consensus behind any specific strategy to keep the program solvent.
Despite such pronouncements discouraging, one can not eliminate the need for Medicare insurance coverage. In the United States 44% of older people were uninsured. Now, it was down to 1%. Before the implementation of the program, 29% of older people living in poverty, had now been reduced to 10%.
