Governor Announces basic BadgerCare
Governor Jim Doyle on January 21 announced a new self-funded health plan for adults without dependent children who are in the waiting list for health care.
Basic BadgerCare provide registrants with access to doctors, services hospital, prescription and generic catastrophic coverage, and paid for primarily through a monthly premium of $ 130, the governor's office said in a press release.
The basic plan is not designed to be a plan to cover long-term health, but is rather a deck plan for keeping people healthy, while waiting for space in the Core Plan BadgerCare Plus, the press release.

According to data compiled by J. Henry Kaiser Family Foundation, Wisconsin, ranked fourth in the nation in the percentage of residents who have health insurance in 2007-08.
The foundation reported that 10.2 percent of Wisconsin residents were insured. Only Massachusetts, Hawaii and Minnesota had the lowest percentage of residents without health insurance. Massachusetts had the lowest percentage of uninsured of 6.1 percent.
The BadgerCare Plus Core Plan provides health benefits for current the low-income adults without dependent children.
