Canada Insurance Act
Has anyone ever used video security for insurance or a claim for an accident caught on tape in On, Canada?

My husband's car was beaten by a car leaving the parking garage in the driveway of the condo where we live. He reviewed the tape in the security monitor and shows clearly that the other driver was at fault. However, the property management segment not release the video that basis that it violates the law of confidentiality and that only the police can apply. Is this true? This tape would be useful for insurance purposes and in the case of a claim. Is there any way to get a hold of the film?

If you and your husband own a condominium, then the two of you are owners of the condominium association, therefore, as owner of the two have full access to the video because it is common property. The management company has no property right to deny access to the video unless they have specific instructions Council that the videos can only be released to specific people. If they do, I tell them to surrender or prepare to be covered with grass as managers property. If they do then contact the Chairman of the Board on how to obtain a copy.
