Canada Insurance Companies Act

Do you think the recent bailout of AIG indicate a paradigm shift in the U.S. economy?
For example, the government will act as a company insurance around the world (as in Britain and Canada) from now? Did government involvement at this level appropriate? If you answer this, please do not add any prediction of the end of the world because they are irrational and unnecessary.
The economic crisis has destroyed almost the belief generation Reagan that private markets are the answer and the government is the problem. I doubt they go as far as Britain, Canada, but will probably go back to the attitudes before that Reagan when we were one of the younger voters more liberal country.The was gone because of changes Bush and the war.
