I have a question about financial responsibility for medical expenses of a child.?
My stepdaughter, who moved with us, was in the room emergency in December. When I signed the consent for her looks, gaurantor showed him as his mother, which means it was for her medical expenses responsible parties that insurance does not cover. Now the mother has called the medical center and refused to pay, and are threatened with becoming a collection agency. There is no legal custody of the daughter and mother not paying child support. My question is, since signing the agreement, which stated that the biological mother was the guarantor, and was witnessed by an employee of the center doctor should not be a legal and binding agreement by both parties? We pay for health insurance, car insurance, clothing, food, everything. We may change your gaurantor without our consent?
Unless the mother agrees to accept financial responsibility for writing, there is no agreement between her and the hospital. Note closely the forms you signed. Somewhere there is probably a clause which gives the ultimate responsibility of the person signing the form.
