Would I Make It In New York City?
I am currently 18 and entering University for a degree in Communication Studies. My brother’s friend did the same degree at the same university as me and currently earns a starting salary of $40 000 a year with his job as a manager of an insurance company. I am Canadian, living near Toronto.
So my question is, what challenges would I have to overcome? Canada has universal health care and in the states, you apparently have to buy insurance. Any issues there?
Also, New York is HELLA expensive, so with a salary of $40 000 dollars and a university degree, would I be able to last? I am a cheap person and only spend when absolutely necessary.
What borough would you reccomend I live in? What price range for an apartment should I aim for? What types of jobs should I look for?
You could always live in the suburbs of New York and take a trip downtown everyday?
