Cis Insurance
i am a subcontactor on cis my employer wants me to pay the insurance excess and v.a.t. to a damaged vehicle.?
I had a road traffic accident in the works vehicle and the man i work for is saying im entitled to pay fro the excess which is 500 pound and also for the v.a.t. on the bill for the damage which is 1137.00 even though he is putting it through the fleet insurance this totals to over 1600 pound what are my rights and what can i do about it
i agree i should pay the excess but would he have to pay the vat or would the insurance company pay this and then he should be able to claim the vat back.
If you’re vat registered, you can pay it and reclaim it if you get a vat invoice in your name.
The problem is that the employer gets the vat invoice in his (the company) name.
He can pay and reclaim the VAT so he has no loss.
Seems a bit of a scam whereby he makes a few quid on the VAT.
