Current health insurance that covers gastric bypass?

My son is BC / BS PPO of California (he lives in Texas) and that it covers. There is a deductible of $ 3,000.00 but is applied. He was to have the gastric bypass, but my wonderful daughter the law has the Weight Watchers Point System and has lost over 40 pounds in six weeks. I really do not understand why insurance companies do not not cover it. They could save money in the long term. The procedures have come a long way since the first and the new techniques has eliminated a lot of problems that usually happen. Oh Well, hope this helps …
