A woman of 58 years of age, receiving "disqualified" from EI in Ontario, Canada?
Hello … I'm talking about my mother who is 58 years and has held his last job (an employment office) for more than five years. About a month ago, was fired and placed in an insurance claim employment and waited for the "waiting period" and was given a rate of $ 340 a week. Just yesterday, I called to see what the "delay" in the age receive your first payment and the phone said they had been "disqualified" for getting fired for misconduct (not true). Has this will happened to someone else (perhaps discover in the last minute that you have been disqualified)? What can you do about it? What other options does she have in now? Any help / advice would be greatly appreciated. Remember that we live in Hamilton, Ontario, Canada. Thanks in advance for your help …
That's the way it works, evaluate the claim, then we inform you that has been denied. If she was not fired for misconduct (and the reason for termination listed in your registry Employment), then she may appeal the denial. I must admit I am confused by your language as you state it was shot. "In Canada, firing at usually means the termination for cause. Was he fired, or let go due to lack of work or some other reason? Just so you know, unlike the U.S., a Canadian company has no benefit to claim that someone was fired for misconduct. It does not affect the rates of IE, nothing. The companies are to give the real reason, and if that is a reason for denial of a claim, then it is. If you appeal, the IE will contact the employer for more information on lifting, and you can present your argument. I guess IE is pretty backed up right now, especially in Ontario, so it may take a while, but discarded in their favor, to be paid to his original claim period.
