The Democrats used to be the party of workers, including disadvantaged people. The Republicans were the party of business. But I do not like that anymore. Both parties have become almost hopelessly corrupt. Both parties serve the same interests, and fight among themselves to serve you better. The real problem is that money has become too important in politics. This is why we have homeless population growing, why our public schools are going to hell, and why more Americans each year can not access the health insurance. Just look at the issue of health insurance. Analyze the health care proposals made by everyone in both parties! They are almost all the same! GHW Bush had one, Clinton was one, Hillary has one now and GW Bush had one. They all have in common that the Govt. purchase insurance for uninsured-some-companies health insurance systems in their current pace. In other words, all serve to increase the profits of the companies existing health insurance. And the SCHIP bill Bush just veto was no exception! The price we pay for health insurance has risen only 70% since Bush has been in the office. And it was considered a crisis before that! But the Republicans, the system of health care-is more successful, not less, because insurance companies are profiting more large and able to contribute more to their campaigns. I think that's what Paul Krugman is talking about.
