How to combat a bad hospital bill. Hospital did not properly bill the INS. Company.?
I need help or suggestions, please. In 2007, my daughter had a procedure done in a day hospital in New York that was not an emergency. Before the day of the procedure, the doctor told us that our insurance covers the procedure itself, and hospital use. Two days before he received a call from the hospital where the procedure clear to us and our sole responsibility is that we have paid $ 200 immediately. On that day we were given two GHI insurance and the Basel Committee. Now almost two years later received a hospital bill for $ 7000. We contacted the Basel Committee and GHI to find out what had happened and were told that the hospital could not bill the insurance with the code appropriate, therefore the payment was denied and this is not our responsibility. After all our attempts to explain the billing department was not our fault who introduced the bill to a collection agency. What can we do to fight this because this is totally absurd. Thank you.
Send a letter certified to the hospital billing department indicating that you contact your insurance company and explain what the problem. Request for the bill again to your insurance provider using the correct codes. Before doing so, please contact the hospital and ask the name of the director or supervisor in the department of billing and direct the letter to them personally. Good luck
