I'm getting birth control and I use my parents' insurance, but will show in the declaration? Need help?
I am 17 years old. I want to go to birth control. My familys insurance is Tufts, I was wondering if I have birth control and use the insurance if the birth control perscription move higher on the statement or invoice? Do not want my parents to find out.
Yes, it will show on your bill. If you go to a clinic like Planned Parenthood, tell them you do not have insurance. And, yes, privacy is a valid reason for not using your current insurance. Most clinics and PP, offering their services on a sliding scale. So, if under a certain amount of money, you will not have to pay anything for contraceptive supplies. What John said is true: you may have to wait several hours to see a doctor at a clinic for free or low cost, although sometimes there is very little hope, especially if you are only purchasing supplies. However, free or low cost birth control is worth the wait every two months (usually give you a 3 month supply at a time). The best thing to do would be call ahead and make an appointment. You will see a doctor much faster that way then if you just go in with no appointment.
