Life Insurance Beneficiaries Divorce
LIFE INSURANCE QUESTION: Can a former wife of a political charge that is not named in the policy /?

My stepfather died a few weeks ago and my mom had taken care of him for a year and a half. They were married for 14 years. He worked for GM for 33 years and had a policy of them, and a little privacy, took last year. He was previously married for 20 years and had two children but they were adults when my mom and he met. He got fucked in divorce and agreed to pay alimony of $ 200 per week for life. So now my mother gets a call from the company insurance indicating that it is pending because someone is trying to claim. My mom called on all policies as 100% beneficiary. The former is greedy … Does no right to that money ????? I really hope that the insurance company will not do.

Life insurance policies are contractual, so-called beneficiaries can not be replaced by the contracting parties (stepfather and the insurance company) agrees to the beneficiary. The company insurance is required to do due diligence before paying when someone says they must be beneficial, just to make sure that nothing was done that was fraudulent, or violation of any contractual agreement. Maybe the ex is saying there was an agreement or a court order to include your name as beneficiary on insurance? If this is a case, that the cancellation of a beneficiary may be violating the court order. Also, she might be holding some of the previous insurance policies and affirming that remain valid. Could be a combination of the two issues. Hopefully it will be resolved with the insurance company must make its dilgence and prompt payment. They want to make sure the money reaches the right hands and to avoid being responsible for not doing so. My best wishes and my sympathy.
