Are accelerated insurance benefits liability?

I recently received a benefit due to accelerated cancer life insurance and wanted to know if taxed.

Insurance benefits should not be taxed. Is the benefit to be bought from the insurer on the basis of the recruitment policy when the insurer sells insurance.
