Privilege Car Insurance
I know this is going to sound mean to some of you, but my 17 years old daughter has crossed the line and I?

need to start revoking privileges. Here are some of the things that I pay for that I am going to cut her off from post haste:

Gas
Car Insurance
Cell Phone
Board for her horse

I owe her basic food, clothing and shelter, but everything else needs to stop. What else can I suspend? The car is hers, so I can’t take that away.

Thank you,
a really good mom in a desparate situation.

“Just Giving” all of those things to her is adding fuel to the problem.
I know: What is done is Done.
But now, you have to concentrate in the future, from now on, and stop Giving Into Her.
Except for the Basic needs that you mentioned, you should Cut everything from her. Everything. And, that is Not being mean; that is being a parent. She’s manipulating you, now you show her Who’s the Parent.
She Knows you’ll jump giving into her when she wants something. No, no, and no-more. You must stop or you’ll scar her for a life time.
If she wants the horse, the car, the phone, and for heaven sakes: Also gas, She Should Be Working for it!
I mean it.
I know way too many teens in my profession, and Most of them have jobs to pay for their car’s needs, phone, and social life; and, the ones that don’t work, they just simply don’t have those things. Period. Why can she do the same?
You’re making a Handicap out of her by giving all of those ‘unnecessary things’. Make her mental and physical healthy by teaching responsibility and life as it is.
Stop adding fuel to her problem, or you’ll regret it for the rest of your life.
