Should I ask to see a Public Liability Insurance Certificate?
I am having an extension built to my house. I have contracted the builders and they say they have public liability insurance, should I ask for a copy of the certificate or to see it?
It is not at all unusual to request a certificate of insurance. To be sure that the insurance is still in effect don’t have the contractor just show you a copy of a certificate. Instead request that the contractor have their insurance agent send you the certificate. This will verify that the insurance is still in effect. You will be shown as the certificate holder and the certificate will show the date it was printed.
