RAC Car insurance ask if you have a criminal record. Are they?
allowed to ask this question. Other car insurance company’s ask about motoring convictions.
Yes – they are entitled to do so – you need not disclose convictions that are spent of course.
And by the way, I suspect that other car insurance companies will provide you with a declaration to confirm that you have no non-motor criminal convictions. Even if you don’t I would have to regard a criminal conviction as a material fact that would have to be disclosed.
So tread warily – or better still see an insurance broker.
