Residential Landlord Insurance
does insurance pay for damage to doors after thieves break in to residence to steal contents?
my insurance has refused to pay damage to doors after thieves broke into my rented residential house.my landlord want them repaired at my cost.
Most household insurances are in two parts. There are two policies, one for contents and one for the building. When you own a property it is usual to have both. When renting the tenant insures the contents ,which you have done, but things like doors and windows would be covered by a buildings policy if there is one.The building should be insured by the landlord. If he has not taken out insurance to cover himself he is liable to pay the cost of repair. What would happen if the house burnt down. Your contents would be covered But would he want you to pay for a new house to be built? It is the same thing.only on a different scale.
