Get A Lot Of Precious Information From The World Of Insurances

Swiftcover Travel

I want to drive my UK car in Ireland for two days. Do I need extra insurance?

I’m looking to travel to Dublin on the 27th of March and return on the 29th. Do I need extra insurance on my car or anything? I’m covered with Swiftcover.com if that makes any difference.

And is there anything else I should think about before booking?

(e.g. France has a little known law that you HAVE to have a high visibiliry jacket in your car at all times. If you don’t, you get fined. Apparently the french make a mint out of UK tourists who have never heard of this dumb-ass rule.)

I don’t know about particular laws of the road in Ireland but most insurance companies extend your cover into Europe free of charge.

Legally your policy covers you on a third party basis in Europe anyway but thats no good if you cause an accident or have your car pinched (not suggesting the Irish would do that!!!)

Give Swiftcover a call, they should issue a driving abroad extension free.

You may also want to consider extending your breakdown service overseas … getting a car back to the UK for repair can be very expensive.

Enjoy the trip.
