Tenants Contents Insurance
my house is rented and yesterday the kitchen caught fire ,insurance help?
i had a kitchen fire, a pan with oil tipped and the cooker and consequently the kitchen caught fire.i have contents insurance ,that will cover my damaged contents (i’m not even bothering has it was a coffee machine and toaster and the excess is £25tenants my landlord has tenants insurance.
it was an accident but the refit ed will have to be refitted (cubords and cooker )and an electrician, clener and painters will have to sort the damage.
do i have to pay landlords insurance excess?
In theory, I’d say yes – if you can be shown to have caused the damage by negligence. However, I think this was just an accident and unless you were cooking on roller skates then I think you’ll be okay.
It’d be a bit harsh of the landlord to ask you anyway.
