There was a question about annual deductibles ….?
I had 2 medical procedures performed in the same year (2 months apart). He had been on insurance for a few years (United Healthcare Group). They have had me pay in full for the X-ray 1 (statement says they are telling my annual deductible) and then they are paying in full for the 2nd identical X-ray at the same time within the hospital network saying it is a covered expense. I called UHC and say both procedures were within the proper limits to be covered, but when the case is reviewed again as my responsibility. Both cases were presented at the hospital billing. Just do not understand why he decided to pay for one and not the other. I have spoken with other United Healthcare members who have the same situation occur, nor understand the methodology of selection of UHC to charge an identical procedure covered within the network (the same year in business) toward the annual deductible.
~ ~ The only thing that makes since to me is that it has reached the amount of your deductible somewhere before the second procedure. By So that would be included in the negotiated rate. UHC Call and ask them to send EOB "S (explanation of benefits) for each procedure. You can then see and understand exactly what was covered. ~ ~
